Background and ExperienceHobbies and Interests

David has guided clients through complex Colorado cases since 1996.  He knows every step of the litigation process, from the initial files to the courtroom.  With decades of experience in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration, he knows what works and what doesn’t.  David listens to his clients carefully and focuses on their needs and objectives.  Sometimes this leads to an informal resolution.  Sometimes this leads to trial. Either way, David has the skill and time-tested experience to help his clients navigate the process and achieve effective solutions.

David’s expertise includes all kinds of business-related challenges that, without capable legal representation, can stop a business in its tracks.  This includes not only disputes between a business and third parties, but also internal fights about breaches of fiduciary duty, partner buyouts, non-competes, trade secret and trade name misappropriation, interference with contract, etc.   David also has expertise and years of experience in the real estate and construction fields—including land sale, boundary, ownership, and easement issues, construction project contracts and disputes, lien priority disputes, foreclosures and landlord-tenant issues.

After graduating from law school and clerking for the Honorable J. Thomas Greene of the United States District Court for the District of Utah, David cut his litigation teeth at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago.  David returned home to Colorado in 1996 where he spent 15 years at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck (as an associate and then a partner), and 11 years as a co-founding partner of Chipman Glasser.  For three years (July 2022-July 2025), David and his wife Lisa were asked by their church to lead the Peru Arequipa Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Now returned to the U.S., David is combining his experience with those of the GPMBF team to provide clients with unmatched service.

David met Lisa, his wife of 37 years, while both competed on the Brigham Young University track and field team.  Trivial fun fact:  David held the 1600 m (mile) record at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado for over 40 years.

Nowadays, when he has free time, David enjoys cycling, hiking in the mountains with Lisa, and spending time with their three adult children and four grandchildren.
